3 Ways to Revive Your Email List (Even if You Haven’t Emailed in Months)
Let’s face it – it’s not always easy to stay on top of emailing on a consistent basis. Have you ever let a long time go by without sending emails to your subscribers? If so, you are not alone, my friend!
You probably had great intentions, but things just didn’t seem to fall into place like you had planned – and several months have gone by since you’ve contacted your list. Now you’re left wondering what to do.
Truth be told, this happened to me when I was first starting out, and I know it happens to a lot of other wellness professionals too.
If you can relate to this scenario at all, and you want to reestablish a connection with your audience, I have three ideas to help you get back on track.
Let’s assume you have a list of people that have not heard from you in quite a while. Think of this as an opportunity to reengage people and get them excited about what you have to offer. The more time that goes by, the less likely it is that people will remember you, so this is your chance to get them reacquainted with you.
You will probably get a few people that unsubscribe since they may not remember you, but that’s ok. You want people on your list who want to be there – and it’s likely that you will still have plenty of people that remain on your list.
So are you ready to reconnect with your list? Here are three tried-and-true strategies for you to get started with today.
1. Generate excitement! Let people know something great is coming soon.
Have you been working on a new program or service that would be of interest to those on your list? If so, you can create an email to let people know you have been busy working on [insert solution to a problem that your target market would be interested in knowing about] and you know they won’t want to miss out (see #2 and #3 below for ideas on how you can present your solution).
“I know it’s been a while since you heard from me. You may remember signing up for “The XYZ Guide” a while back.
I’m getting ready to send out brand new killer tips and strategies that I know you are going to find extremely helpful for [insert how this will help them].
In fact, I am only providing this exclusive information to my VIP peeps – that includes YOU!
You don’t want to miss out, so…
Be on the lookout for my next email later this week where I’ll be sharing the #1 Way to ______________ (insert solution to a common problem) or… the #1 Way to Avoid _____________.
Your next email will present helpful information that you are referring to above, and from then on, commit to a regular schedule of emails. Most of your emails should provide value, and occasionally offer a promotion or a way people can work with you. Use your own wording of course in the above example, but that should give you an idea to get you started.
2. Invite your subscribers to a free webinar. Host a free webinar that will provide your audience with amazing value and provide simple solutions to their common struggles and frustrations. The great thing about webinars is that they can also be a fantastic way to build your email list (so promote it everywhere you can)!
3. Offer another great freebie for your subscribers. You can provide another “gotta have it” free guide, checklist, recipe guide, cheat sheet, video training, etc. What is something your audience would find valuable and helpful? You can include the link to the download in the email for easy access.
By offering another great freebie, you are seen as a giver, which will be appreciated and remembered.
It’s important to keep your list current, active and engaged. The best way to do this is to email your subscribers regularly so they don’t forget who you are, and see how you may be able to help them. Consistency is important, so if sending a weekly email is too much for you right now, commit to bi-weekly or monthly.
Do what you can, and don’t stress about it. It’s better to do one high-quality email per month than it is to scramble to slap together a weekly email with no real substance or benefit. Think quality over quantity. Some sources report that the average person receives over 100 emails per day! You want to capture and hold the attention of your readers as you help them with some of your best tips. People are ready to take action at different times so staying in regular contact with your subscribers is key.
